Qi refers to life force or vital energy. Gong means cultivation or work. The words together refer to cultivating one’s life force.

Qi Gong teaches how to adjust the mind, the breath and the body in order to store, stimulate and circulate Qi.

Qi Gong aims to increase the body’s efficiency, first physically, then energetically, then spiritually.

Whilst most forms of meditation focus on consciousness from the get go, Qi Gong works with the body before progressing to the mind. Changing the body allows changes in consciousness to arise.

Qi Gong can be practised by anyone but some care must be taken in particular physical and mental health circumstances.
